'Behold, now the sun rises from the bosom of the sea' is an old Danish hymn, an ode to the day and life. It is often interpreted as a description of human life from birth to 'the light stands still on the shore of life'. It is therefore often sung at funerals. The beautiful melody I have chosen to take liberties with was written in 1871 by Oluf Ring.
